Cooler and icepacks. I'm in Michigan. Also, how do you keep the washed eggs cool? I’m not sure where you are located, but here in AL, it gets HOT.

Our ice packs would last about an hour!Cooler and icepacks. I'm in Michigan.
I personally wouldn't discount for carton returns. If you need more cartons I recommend posting in your local groups. My neighbor offers cartons for me but we still have alot that she gave us last time lol. But honestly if you want to do discount for carton return youd have to rely on the trust and honesty of people. But don't hold to high of hope because some people dont care if they ruin it.I agree, Cameras and deterrents are a must!!
Also, what do you and @Sally PB think about doing a discount if people return their egg cartons? I reallllyyyy want them to return their egg cartons, 1.)because I don’t want to buy egg cartons, but 2.) because that means they are a returning customer!!
I would give them a cheaper rate for returning the carton, but I don’t know how to verify/give them the discount. Ideas?
You would probably have to switch yours out more often. I see people in oklahoma and missouri that use coolers and icepacks. Our ice packs would last about an hour!![]()
Look up county ordinances, that would likely cover what you need. Food, like eggs, may have tighter rules. Non food may require taxes. These days, with the price of eggs, I don't think the honor system is likely to work well. Some folks are just jerks, and spoil it for everyone. They may not pay, and take all the eggs, leaving nothing for anyone else. Then there are the delinquent types that like to throw stuff around and ruin it, just for fun. It may work fine, one likes to hope, but it only takes one. Sorry to be a downer, but I have seen my share of that.Ooohhh, that’s all good to think about!! I was thinking an un-manned stand… maybe an honor system? We have a “honey hut” near us that has a lock box and goes merely off of people’s good will!
But the credit card thingy is a good idea! I wonder if you could maybe get one of those print out QR code things for a CashApp, Venmo, PayPal…. I hadn’t thought about using cards! And for cash, I was hoping to keep it in simple numbers (not $3.27, you know?!)
We live in a 55mph zone, so signs ahead would be very helpful!!
As far as restrictions, PRAISE THE LORD, we are not in the city limits (that’s ALL GOD!! Praising Him for that!)
So I don’t THINK there are any, but I wouldn’t even know where to look to check and be sure…
You’re not trying to be a downer, you’re trying to warn me of the unwanted potential outcomes! Thank you for the heads up!!Look up county ordinances, that would likely cover what you need. You could put only a dozen or two out at a time and restock throughout the day? Whats the saying? Dont put all your eggs in one basket? You’re not trying to be a downer, you’re trying to warn me of the unwanted potential outcomes! Thank you for the heads up!!
I just don’t know what else to do, save for sitting outside with the stand all day, something I reallly would rather not do when it’s 100 degrees outside! I’m surely open to alternative ideas! When it comes to food, IF someone ripped me off but it was because they NEEDED it, I could live with that. But if they took EVERYTHING, or were just jerks and literally egged the stand, I would have a major issue… that’s something I’m really not sure how to avoid.
That’s a lovely idea!! If I don’t give them the opportunity to take 17 dozen at a time, then they can’t! Good thinking, @PhantomSlayerYou could put only a dozen or two out at a time and restock throughout the day? Whats the saying? Dont put all your eggs in one basket?
as far as handmade goods goes, what do you think about a laminated “menu” with pictures of your goods, and a phone number to contact if they are interested? You could put only a dozen or two out at a time and restock throughout the day? Whats the saying? Dont put all your eggs in one basket?
