Robin's nesting "habits"

This is the third year that robins have nested above the flood light on our deck. Does anyone know if the original robins return to the same nesting area each year? Or could the second and third year be the offspring of the previous parents? This pair's nest is no way as well build as the one last year.

I have had this Robin dancing and flapping his wings against my window for the last few mornings for sure, maybe longer, he makes all kind of noise besides smearing my window. The ledge is a couple inches wide and less than 3 feet off the ground. He doesn't flap his wings much when someone is in the room but I have a 30 minute video of his flapping pretty much non stop. Do you know why he is doing this? Is it the heat from my house? There is no food on the other side of this window.

I have had a Robin sitting on my narrow window ledge for at least the last few days, he constantly flaps his wings and pecks on my window all day long from before 7am, he wakes me up, I think I have someone at my door. I am not sure why he is doing this, there is no food in sight. Could it be the heat from the house? I live in Eastern Pa, 40 miles East of Pittsburgh. Thanks

Round here, we always see magpie larks flapping their wings and running into windows or glass panels - it's because they think there's another magpie inside (as they see their own reflection). We watched one doing this for almost half an hour as well, because it was very curious behaviour. It's unfortunate that the birds are waking you up doing it! Could you try taping some paper across the bottom of the window, just a bird-height strip of paper?
I'm not sure if that's what the problem is, but you never know. Good luck. :)
