So the little wire.. cage bottom thing in the bator is kinda flimsy and doesn't provide a very stable surface. I set the eggs very carefully, keeping them evenly balanced, all x's facing up.. got 'em! They stayed put. Then I put the lid on and just that shook 'em up enough enough that several rolled over.. ARGH! Okay, we can't have that!
For now I just put a couple egg carton lids in there, and have them laying inside those on their sides. Its a little bit awkward though, and I'm not totally confident in that as a long term solution. So, what kinds of things would make a good egg..holder/supporter/roll preventer? And probably equally important, what would make a bad holder? One thing I thought of (and would be pretty cute) was paper muffin liners, but then I wasn't sure because they're so flimsy, would they do the job? Or what about a silicone muffin "tin"? (I'm assuming metal would not be good!)
