Rooster age for breeding?

I have two buff orpingtons, 17 weeks old. I hoped they were both female, not the case. The roo is big and very vocal. He started crowing three weeks ago, and in the last week he has mastered the morning call. He has also taken to mounting the female. Being a newbie to roosters, should I separate him, or let nature do its thing?

Everyone seems to be asking similar Questions, and I'm no different.
I have 2 12month olds one is laying the other went though a stage of trying to crow and she stopped laying. She hasn't snapped out of that and will 3 month later she is not laying and I don't know if she ever will again

Now the babies!!!!
I have Pippy (Roo) and he is 4 months. I raised him and he loved cuddles, but now his found ladies. He is no crowing, his only tried once when I had him away from the girls. But his started dancing and mounting them today? The baby girls are not laying yet.

Not sure what to do?

Now this is not the first time I have had a Roo, the first time was different. I had Bindi and Lacey (Lavender Aruacana's) and Speedy (Faverolle). My Roo was Lavender too. He waited until the girl, layed or almost ready to lay. Speedy hated the mating. Bindi and Lacey just shook it off. I have never taken the Roo away, because they free range and he controls the flock.
