Hi everyone, one of my Roosters was attacked by a dog yesterday afternoon. I had him inside all night trying to keep him stable, he was really bad. He's still inside and I feel I can leave him for a bit to look for anything else I can do. I took so long to Google stuff because I didn't leave his side for the entire night and this morning. I'll attach pictures but warning, they look graphic. His entire back is missing every feather, his wing feathers are mostly gone and most of his underside feathers are gone. The worst is his butt. The cloaca is injured and bleeding, I got the bleeding to stop last night. He was loosing too much blood and getting cold and shivering. I had to focus on that first before treating the open wounds on his back but it took too long to stabilize him and now I the wounds are infected. I can tell because he stinks but that still isn't the main problem. Any idea on what's wrong with his Cloaca? What can I do to help his butt. This specific injury is new to me. For antibiotics, I started him on oxytetracycline last night the moment I found him but because of the infection now I think switching to amoxicillin would be best, should I? He also ate some eggs and I'm giving him prebiotic in the water he's sipping. I cleaned his entire back with warm water but as you see it didnt do much. Hes too stressed and in pain for me to press too much and when the water touched his back all the wounds opened and started bleeding again so I really couldnt risk it he lost too much blood. I've since rubbed a triple antibiotic ointment on his entire back 2 times from last night to now.
He lost most of the blood from his cloaca that was dripping fluids,poop and blood a whole lot last night. It's eases a bit now. Just poop leaking and I just saw he pooped a solid bit. The first since the attack so i think thats a good sign. Plz help. His butt (a little graphic but hes my baby) Is it a prolapse?
