This is possibly one of the strangest things that has happened to me. I was out feeding the chickens. Everything's fine, everyone's eating, etc. I grab one of the waterers to refill it, which took maybe 2 minutes max, and when I brought it back to them, my ayam cemani rooster was lying on the ground limp. I attached a photo to show how he looked.

I poked him a bit to see if he responded and he didn't, so I grab him to get him out of the pen and his body was completely limp. He gave absolutely no response and his eyes remained closed, and any time I moved a piece of his body it didn't resort back to where it was.

I was about to check the pulse and just accept that my rooster suddenly died when he started flailing and then got up and ran from me. I placed him back into the pen to see how he reacted, and he immediately started eating again like nothing had happened.

Now he's roosting with the other chickens, and I'm definitely going to check on him in the morning. Does anyone have any idea what happened here?

Very strange 🤔 I don't know much about this but it could be a heart issue. I would check his pulse and make sure it's regular, then listen to his breathing because heart failure can cause raspy breath. Give us an update in the morning, I hope he'll be okay.

Update: He appears to be completely fine this morning. I checked his pulse and it doesn't seem irregular or off in any way, and his breathing is normal.

Sounds like he passed out. Why is a mystery to me but I would separate him from the flock for observation in case it’s something that might be contagious. Maybe he has a seizure or it’s something neurological. I found this if it’s any help.
