Rooster dropping head and constantly swallowing

I'm glad you will be seeing the vet.

Hopefully they can diagnose this and give you the correct medications, please let us know what you find out.

Thank you for showing me this picture.
Yes, it does look like that, so it is normal then. His front part lift up quite high that it blocks the throat, and sometime it moves his left.

This VET my rooster is seeing this afternoon has few chicken as patients. This is not an Avian VET.

I can not go to Avian VET as they cost an arm and a leg to see. They always book out, emergency consultation cost extra $100.

There is no way I can buy antibiotic without prescription.

I will definitely post an update.

Update: VET appointment rescheduled to today and this morning my roo is looking good, but his head just dropped right to the ground and stayed there.

I took Mom to the chemist to get her medication, waited for over 30minutes. I rang the VET letting them know I will be around 10minutes late. They told me if I am just10minutes late I am ok to come. Turned up 7 minutes late, the receptionist told me it will be a short consultation. I rescheduled it to today because my roo is sick and he needs a proper consultation.

Until I find another non chicken vet that treat chickens, I am stuck with this VET, and this one is a bit moody sometimes. This VET treated all my mom and my family dogs and now chicken. :)

I take my Isa Brown hen to see a vet that near rural area, she does not treat chicken at all, but she only administer birth control implant for chicken for half of the Avian Vet's price. If I drive 2 hours from my home, another non Avian Vet will do the implant for 1/4 of the Avian Vet's price.

Update:
The VET took 3 swaps inside my roo's mouth, physical checked his comb, mouth, everything on his head, neck and crop. The conclusion is that he is most likely have Coryza.

Swollen throat, the whole head is slightly swollen - face, comb, eyes..etc. everything on the head, difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing.

Treatment is antibiotic - Septrin 1ml a day twice a day. Meloxicam 1 a day.

I google Coryza and want to scream because the rest of my flock most likely have it as I only isolate him last weekend.

I am glad the vet took some swabs for cultures. That can get you an actual diagnosis if it is a bacterial disease, either MG or coryza. The septum sounds like a sulfa antibiotic similar to bactrim or sulfatrim. That treats coryza. I would just wait till you get the culture results back. Let us know what they show. Oxymav treats MG, so I don’t know if your giving that might affect the cultures.

The VET say those swaps are for looking under microscope. You are right that the Oxymav I gave him yesterday might affect the outcome. I have to bring him back next Monday, the Vet says sometime chicken does not response to this medication. I will ask the vet next week if they use the swaps for cultures.

I just look at the invoice and it stated 5 x Lab In House Cytology. I don't know what exactly cytology is, but there were 3 swaps with a long Q-tips deep inside my roo's mouth. No swap anywhere else on his body. His body was examined.
