Rooster Frostbite

No it won't😁
If you want to insure your flock doesn't get frostbite, put some Vaseline on the combs! it keeps the frost bite out and doesn't freeze on them. I've tried it for the past almost 3 yrs and haven't ever had a frost bitten comb! I even had some on my hands and I couldn't feel the frost. 🥰

My BCM rooster has frostbite on his comb. Does this mess with his fertility?
How bad is it?
Pics would help here.
Would also help to know your geographical location.
It shouldn't affect fertility in the long run, but he may not be mating until it heals.

It can freeze, and it's best not to put anything on the combs before or after freezing. I know it can free in TX, but it might not be the long and severe cold snaps folks can get elsewhere.

We get below freezing temps from Nov-early April.🥶

Could you post any pictures of the comb? Frostbitten combs should be left alone to heal. Handling them or massaging can cause more damage. Ointments and creams can freeze causing worse damage. It should not affect his fertility, but if it is severe or swollen, it could make it painful so that he needs some time to heal. Most of mine who have suffered healed in a few weeks with no problems.
