OK, WHY in the heck is my rooster crowing at night? Sometimes it will be at 2 in the morning sometimes 3. It is dark out and I'm afraid if he keeps that up the raccoons are going to try to get to him.. He's crowing right now and the sun hasn't even attempted to come up.

I feel your pain!! Mine crows all night then I let them out to free range & then he comes to my backdoor & crows. He won't shut up. I'm hoping he gets laryngitis. The one thought I have is at least I know their alive. I use to wake up at nite & check on them. Now I just listen for the crow & go back to bed. Whats gonna be worse is I'm gonna have 2 more crowing in my new coop. I wonder if they will all crow in unison.

Ours may crow at night if he hears something. Is there anything making noise or agitating him at night? Normally when I get up around 4-4:30 he's starting to crow too. I think it varies on the rooster and how much they like to talk. Ours crows when someone pulls in the driveway, if the horses are getting rowdy, if he wants us to open the henhouse...

I had one who would have been an excellent alarm clock if you needed to get up at 3 AM every day.

I have 2, an adult and a cockerel about 8 months.

Mr. Vic, the adult, is the only one that I have heard crow at night. I noticed last month, and again this morning, it happens to be a full moon. dunno if thats got anything to do with it or not. I'll keep watching for it on full moons.

As for as alarm clocks go, right at 5 every morning the cockerel crows a couple of times. At 6, Mr. Vic crows a few times. The closer it gets to daylight, the more both start crowing.

Crowing At Night Is To Let Everyone Know All Is Well In The Coop! Its When They Dont Crow At Night You Should Worry! Good Luck, Just Think Of It As A Lullaby!

Are there any other noises that happen at night when he crows? Is there any light shining in on him? Often a male will begin crowing at night because something woke him up, such as an unknown sound, or light. Even if the night is slightly brighter than normal from a hidden moon, a rooster will crow. My boys often crow just hearing my footsteps in the house (and they're in a separate building.. )

Well, I had a crow machine here. That crazy roo would crow all night. now if I wanted him to crow ''on command", all I needed to do was laugh, speak a word, open the back door, etc. If that boy heard me in my house he would crow. For a while I couldn't help but laugh because it is not what I would expect to hear in the night.
It got so bad that I was afraid the neighbors would complain so then I tried to remember to only whisper in my own house

I can't remember to whisper all the time as I have dogs I talk to. Last summer after he came after me a few times I decided he had to go. I kept a cockerel that is 10 mos. old now and he is so much quieter.I like that better since I don't live on a farm.

Only two things that you can do, get used to it, or build a big wooden box to keep him in at night. OK three, you can get rid of him. Most roosters will crow all night on occasion, some will all the time. I love to hear them, so it`s all good for me..........Pop
