I have a one year old buff orpington rooster, he hasn't lost weight and seems healthy enough.
He has been sleeping a lot lately, and we thought it was just that he has more hens now. They've all been together for about two months, and the new hens were quarantined prior to introduction to the flock. No one else is sick.
I found him this morning laying in front of the waterer, opening his beak like he was crowing, but no sound came out. I felt his crop, it feels hard. He didn't seem to be in pain when I touched it, but I stood him up and moved him and he shook his head and a stream of clear liquid came out of his beak. There is no outward sign of trauma, no one else is sick, and I use straw for bedding over a laminate floor. He sat back down and kept opening his beak like before. He doesn't want to stand or walk.
I don't know if this is a crop issue, or if he inhaled some water-and I really can't take him to a vet, it's too far and that's IF they will treat chickens.
I've tried to attach a video, and I can't. If there's a way to upload videos here I have one of what he's doing. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please-I would so appreciate it. I love this rooster! I hate to see him struggle, and I just don't know what to do for him.
Thank you in advance!
