My rooster appears completely healthy and normal—he’s eating, drinking, and behaving as usual. He’s two years old and isn’t coughing or sneezing. However, I’ve noticed that when he crows, he seems to wheeze at the end, almost like he runs out of breath mid-crow. My other rooster doesn’t do this. Should I be concerned, or should I just continue monitoring him?

I had a rooster for many years who had a wheeze sound at the end of his crow, and he was healthy. If you can get a video of how he sounds and post it to YouTube or Vimeo, and make it public, we can take a look.

We had a rooster that would do that and sometimes would end up toppling over if he crowed to much. He ended up getting potted for being too aggressive with the hens but it was disconcerting when he first did it and was slightly amusing after the shock went away. Most roosters go through a faze when they are first learning to crow that will sound like a wheeze at the end of the crow.

it is normal (I have and have had many roos); I would not be concerned about it (though I was years ago when I first noticed it, as you are).
