Hi All,
I need some reassurance on my rooster. About 2 weeks ago my rooster had what appeared to be a pecking sore on his comb from likely bothering one of the hens. Cleaned it up, applied bacitracin until healed and thought it was a done deal. Now please note; he was vaccinated for fowl pox and mareks upon hatch.
The sore has returned and I am hoping it’s just an infection, but found it very interesting it is in the exact same spot and is MUCH larger! I immediately isolated and he’s chilling in a dog cage in my husband’s man cave (and is loving it by the way lol).
I gave him a bath and washed the area thoroughly with soap and water, checked him for mites, and applied bacitracin again. He has no other lesions/bumps/skin abnormalities/mouth sores, eating, drinking, pooping, and playing as usual.
Thoughts are appreciated and any suggestions other than bacitracin? I have miconazole, new stock, and blue kite on hand. But will gladly get whatever my little guy needs to heal.
