He should be able to handle 17 hens without any trouble. It’s probably a little hen heavy if you’re specifically trying to use them as breeding stock but you’ll have good enough fertilization rate to hatch out babies if you choose to.With that being said how will one rooster do with 17 hens?
Three of those hens are Jersey giant, would that matter?Also guess cockerel. My BO hens didn't have any comb until they were getting close to laying whereas my BO cockerel had a comb like that at that age. He had seven hens, but he definitely could've handled a few more. I do wonder if 17 hens would be too much for a heavy breed like a BO, but he'll probably do fine.
Not particularly. It would matter if he was the Jersey giant and you had smaller girls. I’ve seen a Polish roo mount a Brahma. xDThree of those hens are Jersey giant, would that matter?
