Roosters fighting, 1 with severe injury

Hello everyone,

We've got a flock of 4 roosters (not by choice). Had 5 but lost 1 mysteriously about a month ago. No blood, no visible injuries. Our guys are about 8 months old. I'm not positive but I think they are white lohmans.

On to the current issue. About a week ago, our second biggest attacked the guy who's a bit smaller than him. Minor injury to the left side of his neck. Treated with veterinarian antibiotic spray. He seemed to fully recover.

Today, the same 2 appear to have gotten in a much bigger fight. Thor, our injured bird, has a very bloody left side of his neck. The birds are inside for tje winter, and we noticed blood spray on the walls. Not a deadly amount, but quite a bit. Our biggest and smallest guys look unaffected.

We're hopeful Thor will be ok. No active bleeding. He's eating, drinking, and crowing. Treated him again with vet spray. We separated Thor to be with only our smallest roo, as he's not aggressive at all.

The aggressor, Tatlı, is very aggressive. He started going after the smallest today. He's leaving the biggest alone.

I think we need to re-home Tatlı. I think he will try to kill the others. Is there any way to reduce his aggressive tendencies? Is re-homing the best solution?

With hormones raging young cockerels need a lot of space, free ranging would be best to give them ample opportunity to get away from each other.

Have they ever been around hens?

I would never rehome a bird with severe aggression.
The freezer would be my way to deal with it.

Once they start fighting like that, either they work it out and things settle down or they keep fighting until someone is dead. By the looks of it you have the latter case on your hands. The only solution is permanent separation so I think your current plan of rehoming the aggressor is a good one. I wish you luck in finding him a good home

They've never been around hens. We got 5 for 5 roos. Luck of the draw in Turkey. Outside is unsafe presently. We have a terrible predator problem in our neighborhood. Trying to avoid the freezer if possible lol.

Can you get pinless peepers in Turkey for your aggressor?

This will usually prevent pecking and harrassing in close quarters.

Its there
