You all brought up something I've been wondering for quite a while - mind if I ask a question?
I have 3 hens (2 splash, 1 blue) that APPEAR to be PQ bantam cochins. Cushions aren't quite as large as I'd like, and they could use a bit "rounder" overall look, but for all intents and purposes, I'd consider them "average pet quality bantam cochins".
EXCEPT... They all have tiny pea combs and they all lay pale green eggs!!!
These girls were purchased at an auction AS bantam cochins (the pea combs were discovered later on), so I have no clue what their background is. Obviously they had a blue egg laying ancestor or two, but who knows how far back or what breed it/they were.
So based on what I'm reading here, the chances of breeding these girls with other (better quality) BBS bantam cochins and ending up (eventually) with a single combed green egg laying cochin are *extremely* slim, right?
