Rouen duckling gender

Not sure at what age you can start to tell the gender of a rouen? Waffles is neurological so she has been growing and developing a little slower. Yesteday she made her first “quack” sound and sounded very similar to my female Pekin quack. she is getting blue/green and purple tint to all her feathers on her body! And around here eyes is getting a more cream color. She is turning out to be so beautiful. She does have some white on her neck but I couldn’t really get a good picture as she doesn’t hold her head high due to her health conditions. I’m just curious on peoples thoughts at this point!

(I also read that females have a more dusty orange beak and males have yellow so judging by her beak color I would say female? Unless it can still change color drastically?)

She is a crested rouen, from what I’ve read it can happen occasionally as it is a genetic defect, they rarely hatch though. I suppose there is always a chance she is a mix. But I truly don’t know. This is the second one I have had. My other grew up to look just like a rouen female but with the crest

And back to you original question, there is no way to sex the duckling yet, weight till it is fully feathered, and then listen to the sound it makes when it is alone.

Thanks! I wasn’t sure if you could tell by the feathers at this age. I’ve looked at photos online and can’t seem to tell if males or females have the tint in their feathers throughout their body I’ve only noticed wing and tail colorings. I will keep waiting
