Sad story, wanted warn others

We had 12 baby chicks inside the house. We bought a house type coop for them til big enough go outside. Came home opened door to make sure they had water. Some how black snake got into my house and into the baby coop and ate 5 of my babies. I never thought they wouldn't be safe inside the house. The snake was able push open top part where you get eggs from. I felt HORRIBLE. I still do. (The coop is too small for big chickens so I use it for babies) Now I have that part screwed down so nothing can get in.

Thank you for the warning. Predators make a living at finding ways to get prey; it's so difficult to keep animals safe.
