Sally's GF3 thread

I had Motorola's, for a long time. Was very happy with them.
Then I got 3, new phones with a NEW plan from T-Mobile.
They were 5 G. One of them,,, the one I was using was having problems receiving texts. The other 2 were fine.
T-Mobile tried to correct mine, by switching off the5G,,, That worked for a while,,,,,,,BUT then there was an operating system update. The new Android version installed,,,,, and phone went BAD. I got ticked offfffff, and threw chit out,,, Got the Galaxy. Am VERY HAPPY WITH IT.
The Galaxy has a fantastic camera. The Motorola cameras were good as well.
That’s quite a hassle, it makes sense to switch after having an experience like that. Good to know about the camera, I do value having a decent one on my phone.

Sadly, when we made the switch to smart phones, our options were limited. We looked at the few models we would be able to get at the "introductory bargain price!!!!!" and the iphone seemed to be the best choice. I deferred to hubby's choice quite a bit on that too, as he did more research. So, we're sticking with what is familiar.

I'm old and set in my ways, and very much a technophobe. I want a phone to make phone calls, send texts, and the camera is handy to get pictures of my chickens. The other features I use with regularity are alarm clock, stop watch, timer, and I write myself notes sometimes. Oh, and I've been tracking my steps lately; the phone does this automatically, and I've been looking at the total/day and average/year.

Hubby uses his phone a LOT more than I do, and for a lot more things. We did decide that having the same model would be a good idea. Mostly so he can help me with mine, due to my technophobia and lack of ability and the "here, you make it work, I don't give a rip" attitude I often have.

I look at computers and cell phones similarly to how I look at cars. I can drive. A car gets me where I need/want to go. I have someone else change the oil and tires and do the repairs. I do like the mechical-ness of cars and wish I knew more about how they work...

As I said, old and set in my ways.

Though lately I do wish we'd picked something that wasn't an iphone. Sigh.

I went to a very small, rural high school, and graduated in 1980. There were NO computers in the class rooms. The only thing I learned about how they did their magic was that they ran on base two. On/off, yes/no. Well, that was cool, I thought.

If we'd had computers in my high school, I bet I would have loved them. Instead, I was cowed and avoided them. I'm still very intimidated.

I even worked as a plastic injection mold designer, very computer intensive work. I liken it to driving a car. I knew how to do what I needed to do to get the results I wanted. Past that, I was lost.

Since were out in BFE, we had to go with Verizon when we first got cellphones, many years ago. They were the only provider that covered this area. We switched -- briefly -- to AT&T, but switched back after a couple years.

One of the neighbors has Visible, says it works very well for them. We might look into that...

We got rid of our land line 10-15 years ago. We always had static on the line. I would call AT&T, someone would do something, and it would get better. For a while. And this was back in dial up internet days, so it was a PITA. When we were finally able to get internet through Verizon, the land line lasted another month.

One time, I called AT&T and complained about all the static on the line. The CS person said, "Ma'am, I can't hear you, there's too much static on the line." I told her, "Yes! there is!!! That's why I'm calling!"

That fix, whatever it was, lasted a week or two, just like the rest of them. :lau
