Sally's GF3 thread

I saw the "European Vacation." It was ok. Funny, but not the kind of funny I like the best. I never saw Home Alone, either.

A Christmas Story is one of my favorites; it was a holiday tradition to watch it for hubby and me for a few years. We haven't done that in several, though.

Different stroke for different folks! :thumbsup

Hubby and I "collect" (for lack of a better word) phrases from movies. They pop up in our conversation and make us laugh. Like these:

"You'll shoot your eye out!" and "It's a major award!"
--A Christmas Story

"Run away! Run away!"
--Holy Grail

"Do ya feel lucky today, punk? Well, do ya?"
one of the Clint Eastwood movies, don't know which. Sometimes I say this to weeds before I pull them out.

"With the benefit of hindsight, maybe it wasn't such a hot idea."
--Raising Arizona
(This crops up fairly often. From something new in the way of groceries that's a bust, to driving a certain busy road this time of year and getting stuck in traffic.)

They have to be said in your best imitation of the character who said them in the movie.

My dh and I used to do that, but now our son continues the tradition. He's the big movie buff, I'm just very familiar of movies I've never seen.
:pop

"Focus, Daniel-san, focus" has had a LOT of use by both dh and I these last few months.

Accepting that we will not get everything done at each phase of the life transition we are going through is far different than heading into the weeds instead of sticking to the plan.
