Sand in poultry food?

Is sand in poultry food a normal thing?

When we had Limon at the vet 2 weeks ago, the veterinarian asked if she had eaten sand. He checked her droppings for parasites and found sand. She had not been outside of the house in over a week.

We live in Turkey and only 1 type of food is available to us locally. It's for all types of fowl. There's different sizes/grinds, but it's all the same food.

I'm looking for other options, but I can find nothing different for sale. Our parrot eats Verselle Laga, but I cannot find the duck variety for sale here.

Should we consider making our own duck food if we cannot find anything appropriate?

If anyone from Europe/Mediterranean/Middle East has suggestions of food that's available, please respond.

We want to feed our flock thr best diet available. Suggestions are welcome.

Idk about what's in your food but it's pretty normal for birds to eat sand on their own. Sand provides grit for them and grit is actually essential to their health. Without it, they will get sick and die. Hopefully someone from your area will chime in about what other food options are available. If there is sand in the food as an ingredient that would be concerning but if she's just eating sand I wouldn't be too worried

Sand is an ingredient. There was no other way she could have eaten it. Limon is 100% inside currently. The vet seemed surprised too.
