Sanitizing Old Shed for Conversion

If it were me and no animals had been housed in it I'd wipe it down with thoughts of getting rid of those cobwebs, sweep it out well and maybe wet-dry vac to get rid of loose stuff (whatever that takes). Then I'd touch up any rusted area. Maybe wire brush and spray with Rustoleum. Let it dry a day or so, the fumes will be gone by then if you leave the door open. Then start turning it into a coop. And touch up any bare spots that can rust.

If chickens required any level of cleanliness as referenced in this thread, mine would have died a long time ago. Had this shed previously housed chicken and had they contacted a horizontally transmitted disease such as AI it would be impossible to eradicate it by cleaning it. We are talking about chickens right? Given the opportunity they would run to the 3 day old stagnant rain puddle at the end of the drive and drink from there than a freshly cleaned and filled fount. Chickens are nothing more than feathered garbage disposals.

Keep their coop safe from predators, dry, leak free with maximum ventilation and no drafts, a place to get out of the sun and feed and water and they are just about as bulletproof as any animal can be.
