Does anyone know what these scab like things on my black americana rooster could be, I noticed them a few days ago and just want to check on here before I have to take him to the vet.
There is no need for a vet, many common chicken illnesses can be treated at home or will go through the flock without much issue. It could also be a form of fowl pox or it could be due to pecking. Asking @Wyorp Rock , @Eggcessive , and @azygous for second opinions
I suggest painting Blu-kote on the lesions. I've done that in the past when my roosters have had something similar, and it cleared it right up. Keep dabbing the Blu-kote on the comb for a week. Use a Q-tip as the stuff can be messy when using the big applicator that comes in the bottle.
