I'm new to chicken keeping and do not have a flock yet. I want to be prepared before I bring ladies homes. We live in Chandler, Az and have bark scorpions and a few other nasties that we use Ortho Home Defense to control. I am not able to free range regularly. Technically I can't free range, but planning on little excursions when neighbors aren't too nosy.
What I need to know: what scorpion control would still be safe for the health of chickens and safe for egg eating?

You may treat crawl spaces that are not accessible to chickens with whatever insecticide you've been using, but you must not use it on the outside portion of your foundation as it will be toxic to chickens. Chickens themselves are an all purpose insecticide, do not forget. They will happily eat any scorpion they come across.

But if you are plagued by scorpions and wish to control them around the perimeter of your dwellings, use permethrin concentrate at 36% concentration. It is safe to use around chickens and it's effective on scorpions.

I hate scorpions. Especially when I find one in bed with me. Yep. Got stung.

Thank you for this! I'm looking online and seeing it but for about 100 a bottle. Is there anything a little more affordable or am I not looking at the right products?
