I’m looking for a better water solution.

I feel like nearly every year I have to replace my waterer for one reason or another. I have tried: nipples on a 5-gallon bucket; the plastic bucket that screws onto the red base (example https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/p...hopping-Google-Organic_Feed-Product-1935699); and the larger top-fill plastic waterer (example https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/p...rd-waterer-3-gal-2167492?gStoreCode=420&gQT=1).
The nipples leaked. The plastic containers seem to crack for no reason after about a season, even though I empty them and store over winter.
I live in a place that freezes, so I use a heated dog bowl in the winter months. This isn’t ideal because my girls tip it over, or the water evaporates about halfway through the day.
I was thinking about switching to a galvanized waterer, but I’ve read those can rust pretty quickly. That would freeze, too, though, so it doesn’t solve all of my problems.

What other options do I have? I don’t necessarily need a ready-made solution/I am open to building something. I am reluctant to have a hose with water running constantly though.

I live in the city. At maximum, I can have 15 birds (although I’m usually around 12). My girls have a large enclosure/do not free range.
The winter gets cold (0F) and the summer gets hot (100F).

Appreciate any ideas!

I use the nipples on a bucket. I got some flexseal waterproof tape and put it on one or both sides after I drilled my holes for the nipples. I then punched a hole through the tape and screwed them in as far as I could. have had zero issues with them leaking.

In winter I get a small submersible aquarium heater and it keeps the water thawed except when it gets really cold like negative temps.
