Seeking new homes for 3 month old Heritage Breed Roosters!

Hello folks, we're pretty new to the site so hope we're in the right place. We have been hand raising some chicks in our backyard in New York City and today our first (of three) roosters crowed.

Honestly thought we had a few more weeks at least before we had to say goodbye. We now need to find new homes for three lovely boys. Two are gorgeous Blue Laced Red Wyandotte Bantams. The other is a Barnevelder Silver Double Laced Bantam. They are purebred and we can give you info on their lineage if desired. It is quite possible the parent flock owners are on this site!

Hand raised and free range by day in organic garden and organic chick feed.

They are lovely birds, very gentle and friendly and have been handled a lot by our 7 year old. If anyone is interested please reach out. We want to know that whatever their fate they will be treated with kindness! Any advice welcome!!!

Thank you yes! We hope so... trying to toughen up and consider the alternative as time passes. Funny thing is after that initial and most excellent round of crowing (our 7 year old kiddo ran out and shushed him), he hasn't tried it again since... at least while we are home!

I'd love to add them to my flock, but I live in TN and not big on road trips that far.

Oh do it! They are such a captivating breed. We love our 2 Wyandotte girls and wish we had space for more. (We can fit 5, maybe 6 hens all up but have some Barnevelder eggs in the incubator now... The Wyandotte roosters are something else tho. Can't get over how friendly and gentle they are and did not expect to get so attached. Of course it's the girls that are in demand...

Have you had any luck rehoming your birds? Would shipping them to another state be an option? They are really lovely looking roosters you have!

Thank you Johnathan! We found a home for the two Wyandotte's. The Barnevelder is still here and no sign of crowing yet. He is growing into an awesome looking bird and still a super nice boy. We just attempted another Barnevelder hatch but due to damaged eggs it has been quite heartbreaking. There is one chick that has made it, but it was an assisted hatch after she failed to get out by herself. Not sure she will survive and we posted about it on a new thread. We beginning to think we need some "chicken math" lessons after all. Anyway Barnevelder rooster, must be four to five months now, still seeking loving home!
