Senile pigeon, would be ok to feed him some chickstarter?

My pet pigeon is over 15 years old and he's reaching the end. He has congestive heart failure and he's developed a paralysis on his legs.
I believe he's having difficulties eating his pigeon feed. I don't think chickstarter can make him much worse than how he already is, but just to be on the safe side, is there any reason I shouldn't try to give it chickstarter and parakeet food free choice? I'm already giving him vitamins but I think his leg paralysis is more related to his CHF.
I don't feel like culling him yet because he's still alert and moving around on his wigs, and he doesn't have the look of a bird in pain.

So sorry he is reaching his end! Can you syringe him the food? Chickstarter would be fine, I believe that would have some of vitamins he needs in it. Sounds like you are taking good care of him! :hugs:hugs
