I had a single Serama chick hatch last week , we got his some friends. He was a week old yesterday and he passed away. He was very energetic and happy and such a personality and loved to be held for the past week , we’ve been giving them vitamins and keep constant heat , but not too much , they had water and the food was small enough for him to eat. But yesterday he was so sleepy and not himself and I just thought he was tired from running around and being him happy self until I checked on him for the 100th time yesterday and he passed away. He wasn’t crushed , he didn’t have pasty butt , he seemed so perfectly normal and I’m crying frequently about it I’m so torn about losing this chick. I’m not sure if I did anything wrong. He’s the only chick I’ve ever lost and I find myself crying constantly about it. Was there anything I could have done ? I thought he was just so sleepy and that he was okay but I didn’t know he was dying. I’m also pregnant so it’s really hard to get over this. I feel like I’d feel better if I knew I didn’t do anything wrong ?

I just had a serama chick die too. It is unfortunate that serama do just die; seemingly for no reason. I've had serama for a number of years. I find the breed very interesting and fun to raise.

It sounds to me that you took good care of your chicks. Know that you did not cause the chick's death. I just happens; at times without warning. You did nothing wrong. Serama are wonderful little birds. I hope you try again.

I'm so sorry. I've also had Serama chicks and they are sooo tiny and special. Sometimes it just happens......don't blame yourself. It just wasn't meant to be

I
He might have been trampled and suffered internal injuries which lead to his untimely death!
I checked him for any signs , there were only two others , and they were the same size , they had plenty of room and they were never on top of each other or created any hazards to where he’d be trampled.

If he was with 2 other chicks his size I'm sure he wasn't trampled. Please don't blame yourself.......sometimes it just happens.
