I have a 4-month old serama rooster who crows for long periods of time throughout the entire day…is this normal? When he crows, his brother crows, but my two Indio gigantes (same age) don’t crow at all. I have 4 hens (8 chickens total) who all get along great, very peaceful. They are free range in a luscious back yard with plenty of clean food and water. Very temperate weather being by the ocean. No extremes.

My serama boy, and all his sons for as long as I've kept them have been very vocal. Yours is still very young, they tend to practise their voice a lot at first.

Indio Gigante normally mature much later, so them not crowing isn't very odd

Thank you! Good to know :)

I haven't had seramas, but so far any cockerels we had that were too enthusiastic about crowing kept that attitude, and likewise with the quieter ones. I think there's a genetic link, although competition with other roos can influence it.
