Setting 28 eggs tonight, feel free to join me.

I put mine in on the same day 03/09/11, I have 12 Barnevelders. So it is okay not to pull out the ones that are not viable? Becuase I am just not good enough to candle and feel comfortable with what I see. The shells are very dark and I see a dark mass in them, but I can't see veins.

As long as they're not stinky or oozing, keep them in there. If they stink you'll want to take it out or it could explode and ruin your hatch.
Good luck everyone!

Today's day 7! That means we're 1/3 of the way there! Yay!

What do you mean by stinky? I smelled them yesterday and they smell like warm eggs, is it an obviouse smell that I can't mistake?

You'll know.

Fortunately I've never had it happen, but I've heard that it is unmistakable. Don't worry.

While it is perfectly normal to be nervous, it is much easier to be relaxed and leave nature to do the work. Eggs are shockingly tough, considering what you would think. I have read countless stories of eggs that have survived power outages and delayed arrivals from shipping eggs and have still had a successful hatch. Sit on your hands and enjoy the experience.

Yep, you will know, it will smell like a rotting egg, because that is what it is. Took one out of my incubator last night. Never had one blow, but I hear it's aweful to clean up!

Well, the last time through I was very nervous and kept checking. This time I set them and have not touched them. However, I am excited about candling them tonight. I was planning on using a 100 watt light bulb in a lamp. I have a coffee can with a hole in the bottom and a I turn it over the lamp with an egg on top. Last time that worked ok, but I was using a 15 watt fluorescent light bulb. Thought this would work better?

so far, I am doing well, not opening the incubator. put them in friday at 1600, so- five, full, 24 hour days coming up.

I have the LG with fan, in a closet heated by a heat lamp.

closet is 88 degrees with humidity at <48% according to 2 different hygros, I rifled through all the hygros at wally world and chose 3+ that read the same...and boy were some of them way off hanging there...

little giant has been hanging pretty steady at 100-101.

I read on the dry incubation method, and I have spoken with some friends and old-timers.

We live in Florida.
We placed water in one main trough. humidity has been hanging at <35% again, 2 different hygros
I have a syringe with tubing to add water if emergent.
We plan to candle and weigh on day 10.
We want to lockdown on day 18 and up humidity to ~65%
