You are right, not a fan of green gooseberries as they are mostly underripe. Properly ripe red and even green (just before they go over) are OK, just aboutgorgeous chickens and fab photos!

I might if it had elderflowers in there too. Mother Nature made a bit of a timing error as elderflowers are mostly over by the time the gooseberries are ripewould you make an exception for gooseberry fool?
I discovered quite late in life that there are things called red gooseberries and I like them; still not fond of green, unless it's in a crumble, or something with plenty to distract from the sharpness. But I would sacrifice for chickens as keen on them as yours obviously are!
