My daughter said the same thing!! I have to say, as obnoxious and standoffish as this lady is, she has an abundance of character. Her antics brought me to tears, I was laughing so hard (while commiserating with your suffering - must she have the couch too?!). I appreciate her personality, even if you do want to rip out her vocal chords....

That's exactly what she's doing! Except treats will only make her stop for a moment. She wants out. She's used to being let out early but I want to collect fresh eggs so I'm making her stay in there until later in the afternoon
Well that's the problem. Because they were in a smaller coop I was only shutting them in there to be safe at night. And letting them loose all day. Which was leaving me without enough eggs for the demand. We'd find them in the doghouse and any other random place and of course had no idea how old they were. Now we're over that and I have gone back to letting them out a little later in the day to get them back to laying in their nest boxes and then free-ranging when everybody's pretty much done laying. The rest of them are okay with this. They have a massive run that could easily fit twice as many. But she liked getting out. Because she like to get on the porch dig up my plants and just create chaos in general. And I've ruined it for herWhen I found my bantam chicken she would crow like this all day long. I work from home and she lives inside with me so I thought I was going to go insane. Two things I discovered, #1 - she did not like her enclosure so I built her a bigger one, and #2 - she just wanted to be with me because she was lonely, so I let her sit with me while I work. She is super quiet now...never really hear a peep out of her. Make your chicken happy. They have souls, they aren't just egg producers.

I would let them out first thing in the morning like I have been. But unfortunately that has got me nests hidden all over the place thus a decrease in egg production and now nine extra babies. They get out every single day and they always have. But I always waited until a little bit later in the day so they put their eggs where I wanted them. It was a temporary situation until I got the new run done but she doesn't want to go back to the old orderI have 4 Bantams that are just as loud. Mine want to go out too, so I let them out. I leave the big chicken run door open so they can still go inside and lay if they want. Instead of Xanax, maybe some ear plugs??
That squawk is nothing compared to the sound my New Hampshire would make.
! I can usually sush her though, thank goodness! I think she does this when she sees me and is excited for a treat! I generally Will appease her with fresh picked weeds, kitchen scraps or fruit that I don’t mind sharing. Otherwise a handful of scratch will keep her busy too!
