Shipped hatching eggs viable?

I agree that there's still a chance of getting some chicks out of those eggs. Good luck, and let us know how many hatch! If you mark the shipped eggs you can count the shells at the end to see how many hatched.
Thank you. The shipped eggs do have marks on them. Leading me to believe they may be a mix of colors. I'm not sure what they marked them with. What would you use to mark our own?

Was pretty excited to win a 30 count of quail hatching eggs for Christmas from a sponsor of a livestream. I sent my information to the person who put on the stream per their instructions and expected to hear from the hatchery. A few days later I hadn't heard from them so I reached out. No response back so reached out another way. No response to date. Turns out they shipped them 12-30-24. No warning. No tracking information sent to me. No response back to my email or website "chat" contact. Tracking number (on the package) shows they traveled through the holiday but can't determine if they sat and for how long. They arrived today to our surprise. I had reached out to the shipper to find out the details of how it would work and when they would ship so I can prepare and have the incubator going. This was the first time I've gotten shipped hatching eggs. So I now have hatching eggs that traveled and probably sat over New Years. At the least the eggs are 8 days old. Incubator is set up and seems to be holding fairly steady but would have been nice to know they were coming so I could be sure all was good to go. Am I wasting my time trying to hatch these eggs? Pretty disappointed a hatchery would not even notify of a shipment let alone ship something like eggs over a known holiday when the post office won't be running. The person who put on the livestream had mentioned they probably wouldn't be shipped until after the new year so wasn't expecting them to even be shipped yet. Pretty disappointed all the way around. Thankful I didn't pay for them and certainly will not ever order from this seller after this. Should have know when I saw on their website they don't offer a hatching guarantee on purchased eggs. Seems most sellers do offer some sort of guarantee. So do I even try and incubate these eggs? I have them out of the box and sitting in their foam for 24 hours to let the air sack go back to where it needs to be.
Shipped eggs are not guaranteed to hatch. Farm eggs are not guaranteed to hatch. No one knows they are fertilized only when they are opened by hatch or cracked open. Eggs can be fertile, I see the bulls eye on the yolk when in my frying pan but they are not fertilized. I ship fertile eggs hoping my rooster fertilized them. I do quality control by putting my hens eggs in the frying pan just to see the bulls eye "fertilized" the hubby has breakfast. LOL

This is definitely true, because my first two batches of 20 eggs from one hatchery I only had 2 first one hatch, and I didn't check unhatched eggs. The second one, 3 hatched and I did check all but 4 were infertile. So it happens. I won't use that hatchery again, mainly because how expensive it is, but I've read it does happen quite frequently. As you said, you can't tell unless they are opened lol, one way or another.

I understand what you are saying. Of course they aren't all guaranteed to hatch. What I'm saying is most egg shippers guarantee a certain amount of a hatch rate (usually 50% it seems) or they replace them pending it's not 100% my fault of course. I did check all the eggs that haven't incubated to date and they were all fertilized. So far we are getting a good incubation rate so hopefully they make it to hatching.

I'm not sure who you got your eggs from, but any hatchery I've researched don't guarantee anything, and definitely don't replace unhatched eggs. Except possibly if many were damaged upon shipping.

This is mainly because there's to many factors that could cause eggs not to hatch. Which would be the buyers issue. I know it's a bummer, especially if you purchase expensive eggs and they aren't even fertile. Been there and done that.

Best you can do is not use them again.

FWIW, MyShire farms gives a 50% hatch rate guarantee. If you order 50 eggs from them and fewer than 25 hatch, they'll refund half of the cost of the eggs regardless of what caused the low hatch rate. I'm not aware of any other hatchery that offers such a guarantee, but they do and they honor it. My first order of 50 eggs, I received 60, 50 appeared viable at lockdown, but only 24 hatched. It was my first time incubating and I'm sure the low rate was my fault. During the process, I contacted them, for advice only, and not expecting a refund, but they gave me one anyway.

Thank you for this info! I've never seen their name in my search, definitely adding and looking now.
