hey guys, its been a while since ive been on here. About 3 days ago I bought this adorable mini roo from a guy on the side of the road because i was in love the second i saw him (so much that i paid 40 dollars...) but he is infested with mites. I used a tweezer to get them off his face which he didnt mind, also im using some spray and diatomaceous earth, but the problem is he wont stop shivering and hasnt since i got him. is this a sign of sickness or cuz of the mites? he acts fine but i just wanna get this little guy well, is there any home remedy to quickly kill mites?. let me know if yall want pics of him, his name is bubble😊

I hope you don't have any other birds in the vicinity, if you do, keep him far away.
What spray are you using? Diotomaeceous Earth won't help at all.
What are you feeding? He may be anemic from the mites, and need extra nutrients.
Buying an an unknown animal is a high stakes gamble, especially with so many chronic diseases.

ive kept him separate from my flock, but one of my chickens came in the front yard near him but it was only for a minute i pray that it does not spread. im using the manna pro poultry protector, and im feeding him some high pro scratch with all flock feed.

Poultry protector won't help mites, you need a permethrine based powder or spray.
Let's hope she was upwind from him. He doesn't get to go outside for atleast a month, until you can assume he's healthy.
Wash hands, don't let him near your chicken clothes.

okay thank you. should i keep him on our enclosed porch and not let him in the yard?

Can you get a picture of the chicken and the mites? Could they have been stick tight fleas instead of mites? What is your location? Are you an adult or teen? It is very dangerous to bring in birds like this to your established flock. Chickens can bring in respiratory and other diseases that can be carried to your other birds, that can affect them all for life.

i got some pictures but i plucked most of the mites off his head the only ones i see are under the back of his comb, sorry i dont have a better pic of the bugs. it was also odd that i looked through his feathers but didnt find anything. i looked up stick tight fleas and yes i think that is what they are because they were burrowing in his skin and mine while i was plucking! i hope they cant spread to humans because my heads been itching like crazy. but we are from the south and im 16. i know it was probably a dumb idea to bring this roo in but i felt so bad, the guy kept him in a crate all the time so he didnt even know how to walk the first two days we had him, literally he would just stand there. i will try to get him well as possible and i dont plan on letting him with our other flock ever because my big roosters are mean, even to me and im afraid they would hurt him
