I just recently had one of my silkies pass away from a tumor. I had two silkies and they were buddies they were always together. I also have an Isa brown, white crested polish and ameraucana.

My question will my silkie be fine without another silkie? I’m just afraid since she is so much smaller then my other ladies, she does follow them around but my silkie girl is definitely looking for her friend.

Oh bless her heart 😞

As for getting another, don’t you know the 1st and 2nd rules of Hen Keeping ?

1. If you need to get an uneven number of hens round up to the next even number number (ie 3 needed so get 4)
2. If you have an odd number of a specific hen colour/size/age/shape then you have to get another to make an even number … please refer to Rule 1.

Probably. You don't get guarantees with behaviors of living animals but I'd expect her to fit in with the flock quite well. Go by what you see. If the others are running her away then you might want to get more. But that means a totally new integration. That's liable to add issues and is not always easy.

If you do add more I'd suggest a minimum of two new chickens. They may need to be separated from the main flock for a while. If there are two or more then they have a buddy. It usually makes integration easier.
