I have four chicks who’s dad was a silkie rooster (I think partridge). I’m curious as to what they may look like, and just how silkie genes play out in general. To me silkies are all about the feather type, hard to see past it! I know the type is recessive though so these guys wont have silkie feathers. Pictures of the chicks in question. Would love to see other people’s silkie mixes!

What are these little fellas mom? My friend was giving me some silkie eggs to hatch out and threw in two EE, nice big blue eggs, she occasionally free ranges but has never had mix breeds before . Turned out her silkie and the EE hen crossed paths and I wound up with these two weirdos haha. They have only 4 toes and single combs, but black skin and silkie feathering! Personalities are hilarious....no idea what I am going to do with them...probably keep them with the OE, EE and legbars! It will be cool to see if the little hen lays blue eggs.

Omg I love them! Blue laying silkies would be awesome! I suppose with silkie feathering being recessive, it is possible for it to show up anywhere. At what age did you know they had silkie feathers?

If they lay blue eggs I’ll take them

This is "Manny", but I should have named him "Stubby". His tail has always been just blunt and stubby like this and he's a big fat boy. His mother is behind him (a Midnight Majesty Marans - basically a hatchery Marans mix) and his father is a tiny blue silkie. I always thought his coloring was wierd but it's actually really pretty irl. His feathers are blue with fire red edges, fire orange edges, or black edges. I always try to collect any feathers he drops because they're so neat. He has a cute little crest that's adorable. Plus the main thing, he's an amazing rooster, like his father. His little father is terrified of him though and always steers clear of Manny

He is due to molt any day now, so that's why his tail feathers look ragged. He is 15 months old
