I have an 11 day old chick, she's a mix breed chicken. In less than 12 hours she's lost half if not more of her body weight, she's extremely weak, hardly able to keep her eyes open. She had diarrhea but we were able to stop it, yet she's not improving at all.

I've hand fed her with some difficulty and she falls asleep while trying to swallow and it scares me that I might suffocate her trying to give her too much. Her body temp is down but I'm keeping her on me in my bra to help her stay warm.

What can I do for her? Do I just keep her warm at all times and keep trying tp hand feed her or is there something more I can do?

How many chicks do you have?

I think coccidiosis is always the first suspect. This can be treated with Corid.

No idea about the baking soda.

Pics of the poop would potentially help the health experts identify the problem.

We have seven chicks at the moment. No one else is showing signs of sickness but her. She was the last one hatched but she seems healthy until now.

I would post pictures of poop if she would poop. At the moment I don't think she has enough food in her for her to do that.

As you can see from the pictures she can't even really stand up, she's just so weak.

Nutridrench if you have it, or if you can go get some. Its a quick vitamin boost, gets into the bloodstream almost immediately.
Keeping her warm and trying to keep her hydrated would be on my priority list. But sometimes chicks just fail to thrive. :(

Thank you. I'll see if my husband can get some after work.
