I have a bantam who yesterday was huddled up in her house and i thought she was laying an egg until she was still laying there at late afternoon. She was clearly struggling to walk and is always sleeping. She hasn’t even pooped unless i didn’t see it and she wont eat. I tried checking if shes eggbound but i don’t really feel anything under her.

I’m really worried i’m not sure whats wrong with her or what to do. She was kind of limping yesterday but now she wont even try.

Can you fill out this template?

1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use

1. She is a Japanese Bantam chicken around 4 years of age, she is a little lighter but shes always been tiny
2. Shes always huddled up doesn’t eat much but she does drink water
3. around 1-2 days
4.No my other chickens are fine and are now separated from her
5. I did inspect her but since shes full of feathers its really hard to tell, i’ll try inspecting her again
6. Im really not sure why she would be experiencing this
7. She drinks water but barley eats
8. So far i have seen no poop
9. I’ve just tried to give her water and feed her, inspected her multiple times for eggbound or bone issues not sure what to do next
10. I am unable to provide a vet for her so my intent is to treat her at home
11. not at the moment only her huddled up
12. They have a small coop and their bedding is wood shavings for animals

Can you check her for any signs of bruising on the legs or does she indicate she's in pain if you move her legs?

You thought she was laying an egg, but no egg yet. I'd be inclined to get Extra Calcium into her to see if she's having a hard time expelling an egg. I would not feel inside the vent anymore, it's not productive.

Give her 1 Calcium Citrate+D3 tablet once daily for 5 days. Just pull on the wattles, pop the tablet into the beak and let her swallow.

Keep her hydrated, she's drinking, so that's good. See if you can entice her with bits of egg or some other goodie topping her feed.

Check her crop - is it emptying?

yes! so i actually just gave her some calcium and b complex and i also gave her an epsom salt bath. i crushed the tablets and or opened them put them in water and made her drink it. I also gave her some amoxil incase she may have some infection. I’ll continue on the calcium though thank you! I’ll check her crop although it might be hard since shes not really eating much

Sounds good, keep us posted on how she's doing.

her crop has alot of water but thats because i’ve been giving her alot of water. Just fed her yogurt with corn and rice.
Just check her crop first thing in the morning before she's had anything to eat/drink to see if it's emptying.

I'd focus on her eating her normal nutritionally balance poultry feed.
