Hello, recently one of my six chickens started sneezing, coughing, runny nose, diarrhea and sounded hoarse. This was Thursday morning. I separated her right away from the flock and brought her in set her up in a cage. Started her on amoxicillin, ACV water and interchange with electrolyte water. Today is day 3 of treatment. She sound much better. All previous symptoms are gone and she layed her first egg today. She seems energetic and wants to come out. When should I introduce her back to her flock? Thank you!

Welcome to BYC. Have you added any new birds to your flock in recent weeks who may have been a carrier of a respiratory disease? Did you see any bubbles or foam, or discharge from either eye, or swollen eyelid? I don’t usually separate chickens from the flock, since they usually get upset and the pecking order gets upset. Amoxicillin doesn’t treat MG, one of the more common diseases. There are also viruses such as infectious bronchitis that may cause those symptoms you are seeing. I would finish the course of antibiotics for 7 days.

Thank you for the reply, I have not exposed them to any new birds. No foaming or discharge or swelling noted. I realize the re introduction is going to be trouble that worries me too.
