I have a Pekin duck I took in and it was born (I've been told) with toes curled in and crooked legs. It walks really oddly- One leg is often back at an angle and the other is at an angle too. Anyways I tried to do the make a splint thing but it didn't like it and couldn't move at all with them on. So after consulting the Avian vet on the phone because we don't have one anywhere close they told me this is a birth defect that happens and most of the time they will adapt and figure out how to get around on their own... Skip ahead... She (I believe She) lost her quack recently and was feeling pretty light so I have her in a tote in my house and have been giving her chicken 911 and VetRx along with the usual Niacin and electrolytes. She seems to be doing a bit better today but her quack is still not fully back. I feel bad having her away from her other 2 sisters and want to know what I should do. Do I leave her quarantined? For how long? How else can I help her get her quack back or walk better? Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated. Oh also I have given her a couple baths since bringing her in last week and that seemed to help but one of the things she does to help her walk is she will use her beak to stabilize herself and that scares me when she is in the bath because I don't want her to drown, her breathing seemed to be weak when I first brought her in. Again any suggestions would be great. I rescued them off someone else at 2 months old and lost one a little bit after I got them, I think they are probably about 4 months now, thank you.

I'm sorry nobody has gotten back to you. I've had a couple of chicks in the past with leg issues and with vitamin water (Poultry Cell) and either binding or a "shoe" made from cardboard have fixed them. If it's let go too long, it may not be able to be fixed.

How is she doing now? If still having issues, I'll try get one of our duck experts to come help here as I just have chickens.
