Hello, I have a hen who is not doing too hot. To make sure that I get all the info down that I can, I will answer all the questions that are at the top of the emergency page.
1) Breed, Age, Weight: Frost White Legbar, less than a year, she seems to be a relatively normal weight.

2) Behavior: Bad balance, drooping head, lethargy, clear and liquidy poop, lack of appetite.

3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? The hen has been acting off for around 3 days. She seemed normal yesterday, and today she was still on the roost with her head hanging down.

4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? Not these symptoms. The rooster with her was sleepy the other day, but he is back to normal.

5) Any injuries or trauma? No physical signs of anything wrong. I have felt all over her and feel nothing out of the ordinary.

6) Any known cause? The only thing I can think of as a cause is the sudden shift in weather in Texas. Went from 90-100 and dry to 50-70 with rain and wind.

7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. Since she has been sick she hasn't had much interest in food. She always had access to water and layer feed.

8) How does the poop look? The poop is clear and liquidy (picture attached)

9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? I gave her some vitamins and electrolytes. I have her seperated from the other 2 chickens she is living with.

10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? I want to treat the bird myself.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use. The 3 birds live in 2 large dog kennels attached together. They have a bare bottom, but I add fallen leaves to the bottom of the cages. It is a temporary cage, their permanent pen is almost finished.

maybe egg bound? I had an eggbound hen act similar. to treat that you soak them in an Epsom salt bath. If she lays nothing and you feel no egg it's possible the egg broke inside her in which case the only treatment I know of is surgery. if did break, Just make her as comfortable as you can. Hope you can figure out what's wrong

When was her last egg?

I'd start her on Calcium Citrate+D3 asap. 1 tablet into the beak daily for a week.

Is her crop emptying?

Work on hydration, give her sugar water or electrolytes.

You mention the rooster was also sleepy a couple of days ago. Are these birds new to you or have they been put on new ground?

I haven't gotten eggs from the 2 Legbar girls for a couple weeks.

Her crop is emptying.

I have given her home made electrolytes.

I have had the birds for a while and they have been in the same area for a few months.

I felt her abdomen and felt no egg there. Wouldn't she be pooping egg yolk if it broke?

not necessarily. It's possible she's egg bound and you just can't feel the egg. The soak might still be a good idea.

Green poop can mean a couple of things.

Do you see her squatting down at all?
