Are there any resources of what silkie chicks grow up to look like as adults? I acquired 10 silkie chicks yesterday and I’m excited to see what they’re going to look like. I’m trying to learn their coloring and what they start out as vs what they will mature to. But I’m not sure of their specific colors yet with the ones I have. I’ll attach some pics and if you have any ideas of what their colors might be feel free to comment ☺️ Thanks for looking!

I would say you have some partridge and silver partridge and the black ones almost look like white capped black but I'm no expert good luck with your adorable babies!

Maybe these members can help 🙂 @LadiesAndJane @LynnaePB

Welcome to BYC!
Looks like you have mostly "satin" or smooth feathered chicks. These can be mostly Silkie, but are mixes. The first three are. I can not see the wings in others you are holding. Most of them look like non standard colors. Agree a few partridges in the mix. The black and white ones may be mottled. Where did you get them?
If you can post each chick individually, free standing from the side if possible, and numbered it will be easier to comment on each one.😊
Photos below show silkie feathered versus smooth feathered in otherwise identical looking chicks.

Thanks for your reply! I’ll try to take better pictures later. So some of these may not be silkies? I got them from a woman who said she was selling me silkies and she had sent me a couple pictures of adults that I assumed were the parents.

Well many people consider "Satins" Silkies, but they are not. Many people call Silkie mixes "Satins" but they are not as well. I know it is confusing.😊
Technically a Satin is a Silkie in every way except they have smooth feathers instead of silkied feathers. They still have the correct comb, skin color, toes and body shape of a Silkie. These birds are often over 90% Silkie and yours may very well be. Hard to tell at this age.
A Silkie mix is any bird that has some Silkie blood. Usually these are half Silkie and half another breed.
The smooth feathered chick in my photo above is a second generation Polkie, (75% Silkie and 25% Polish). I would not call this bird a Satin. Not enough Silkie.
Hope this makes sense! If you get on the "Silkies, they are simply spectacular" thread, there are many of us Silkie fanatics discussing our birds, including Satins and mixes.

It is a little confusing, but I’ll get there eventually lol

@LadiesAndJane
I ended up getting some (hopefully) better pictures. I know they’re still pretty young.
