Silkie frustration

I can’t figure out why my silkies will not go into the coop even when it’s cold or raining. The ramp isn’t that high so they should be able to get up it with no problem, instead they just huddle together and the mamma hen will lay her eggs under the ramp and stay under there with them.

How many do you have? Maybe if it’s really cold or rainy you could just pick them up and put them in. If they keep running out and you’re really worried you could shut the door. I’m not sure what you could do to make them go in. Someone else though might have some good ideas and hopefully respond on here!

Right now I have 4, once there chicks get old enough they will go in there also, and yes I have put them in and they run right back out but I will have to do what you suggested and close it up afterwards, we don’t have that problem with our leghorns and road island reds so there door closes automatically at night.

I understand your frustration! I have a frizzle silkie who stays out when none of my others will. Eventually she will go in, I don’t know your chickens though so maybe they are even worse! Good luck!
