Hi,

This is my first question here. I have a silkie mix pullet/cockerel. (Too young to tell) Over all they have growing well along with its siblings. However I noticed two days ago, that is seems to be laying down alot. It still eats and drinks but does this laying down. It doesn't seem like laziness, more like sluggish. Even when "chased" it choses to not move. I noticed that at night when next to its mom it's body was tremoring. It's hot here, and its with its mom, so its not cold. Im not sure what it could be. I don't see any lumps, discoloration or injury. Am I overthinking this? Any help would be appreciated.

I agree. Get some poultry NutriDrench and give it a couple of drops daily. Hold a small cup of water to it’s beak to coax it to drink. It may be dehydrated or weak. Coccidiosis may also be a possibility. Corid in the water for 5-7 days can treat that, and it would be safe for the rest. Dosage is 1.5 tsp of the powder, or 2 tsp of the liquid Corid per gallon of water, as the only woater source. How old is the sick chick? When you treat with Corid, do not give vitamins or NutriDrench until after treatment ends. You can give it a dose before the Corid however.

Tremors can be a symptom of a virus called avian encephalomyelitis (AE.) Usually those chicks may be found lying on their sides though.
