Silkie question please help!!!

Black skin and 5 toes are normal for silkies. Cochins (full bred) have yellow skin and 4 toes. Bantam cochins are the more common breed to be frizzle feathered, which is why I'm suspecting that you have a cross between the two breeds, and from the looks of the one you said yours looks like. That one looks like a cross.
Also relating to size, cochins come in standard size and bantam size, as do silkies, although most silkies are rather small.
Yeah, they are both small even though he is about twice her size. I’ll check the skin and toes when I go over and check on them later and I’ll let you know. Thanks

@WVduckchick i was so upset at losing one of my roosters I didn’t even look at the skin or toes! I did take some pictures though for y’all.

They are lovely. I’m pretty sure they are cochin/silkie crosses, which there is nothing wrong with! Many people raise the breeds together because they usually get along so well and are very similar. I’m not sure why I even mentioned it. Now I have to go see what your original question was. I’m sorry.. :D

Ok, eggs. :gig
She doesn’t really look old enough to lay yet, but the black skin kinda hides the redness that most pullets get when they start laying.
@aart has a great article that I can never find on ways to tell if they are laying. I have some size comparison pics, if I can find them.

My silkies’ eggs were always very smooth and almost shiny, and more oblong shaped. My cochins are more matte finish, and typical fat end/pointy end eggs, or more round. If that helps any.

The large egg on top is a Swedish duck egg. Next is a chocolate Orpington, can’t remember the next two, probably bantam cochins.
2nd row, dark brown is a golden comet, choc orp, lavender Orpington, and bantam cochin
Bottom row is silkie, and the last 3 are golden sebright and OEGBs.

Lol, I originally just wanted to know what size the eggs should be.

This is great!
I have a pair of bantam Cochin as well. However, the pullet of that pair isn’t laying yet either. Now I know what her eggs should sort of look like too and I had no idea they would be almost the same as regular sized eggs!
