Just showing off my adorable little hen. She is a product of my Silkie Rooster Johnny Cash and my Naked Neck Hen June Carter (who has since passed). I’m very surprised with how dark she came out! She has the Silkie toes and black skin, and a walnut type comb. She ended up with her mom’s smooth feathering though. I think she’s such a cute little thing!

Congrats on your funny hatch! Does your cute little thing have a name?

The dark skin color is sex linked in the direction it was bred.. males getting light skin and females getting dark.

5 toes and walnut comb are dominant to 4 toes and straight comb.

Silkie feathering is recessive to smooth and all first generation crosses will be smooth feathered. If you breed her back to Silkie she will throw 50% silkie feathered and 50% smooth feathered offspring, approximately. (IIRC)

Nacked neck is semi dominant.. I haven't verified the following pic from google images for accracy.. it should be fairly close..

Didn’t know that about the skin color! She was hatched with 3 others who were all lighter skinned on their face and necks but their legs were black. I believe those all turned out to be roosters.
She doesn’t have a name just yet.
I will be housing her with a silkie rooster I just don’t know which one yet. I currently have her with Elvis, a white silkie rooster, who was a package deal with a silkie hen I bought. I really didn’t need him and I didn’t plan on keeping him but I’m waiting to see how my silkie chicks grow out and if there’s a rooster I really like in the mix. Elvis might stay somewhere here because I’ve grown to really like him but not for breeding purposes. 😂
