Sorry if i sound like a noob but im new to genetics and what does mottled mean? How will all of these chicks be mottled if both parents only have 1 mottled gene?
Mottle is a gene that causes white spots all over the bird that increase with every adult molt.Sorry if i sound like a noob but im new to genetics and what does mottled mean?

I'm sorry to hear you lost your F1 hen but I'm glad that doesn't mean the end of your project! I look forward to seeing what 2025 brings for your flock. Here are my plans for breeding season 2025 (they have changed)
Unfortunately I lost my F1 hen. I want to thank @CastielH for giving me the idea to keep my F2 pullet for a back up.
I’m going to breed the F1 rooster and F2 pullet together. Hopefully my pullet carries the mottled hen so I can get silkied and mottled babies
At the same time I’m going to breed my F2 rooster to one of my best Millie Fleur hens.
If my F1 Pullet carries the mottled hen I’ll breed her back to her brother to get chicks that are 100% silkied and 50% should come out mottled.
Here are the birds

Thanks! I probably would of just bred the F2 rooster to a Millie Fleur hen if I hadn’t had the F1 hen.I'm sorry to hear you lost your F1 hen but I'm glad that doesn't mean the end of your project! I look forward to seeing what 2025 brings for your flock.
