Help! We purchased some fertilised silkie eggs, we let them rest for 24 hours like you are meant to but we didn’t candle them (we are quite new to this). None have exploded or look like they have rotten so I think all is well there. But today is day 21 and silkies are meant to come early but even on day 21 we can’t see any pips or any movement (they are under our broody so it’s hard to see)
Could it be because they were sipped they take longer? Could they still all hatch and be fine? Thanks, Bo

No bad smell from the nest is a good sign! Sometimes when you use a broody hen instead of an incubator it can take longer for the eggs to reach proper incubation temp. Without candling it's really hard to tell, but if nothing is exploded or rotten then I would definitely say wait. After a few days if nothing has changed then you might want to investigate. As @PirateGirl mentioned it won't hurt to candle an egg.

Thanks so much I didn’t know that it could take longer with a broody! No bad smell or any explosions so fingers crossed.
