My silkies are starting to lay more. I'll start collecting eggs in a few weeks. This was todays haul.

Um, houseguest anyone? This guy has had his head tucked under his wing for two days now. Crop is empty so I suspect something stuck somewhere. Got a tiny bit of castor oil in his mouth, and watched him licking it with his tongue... A few minutes later the coughing started.. Cheep, cough, cough.. then he was up on the side of the box resting..Nice small comb and wattles, big muffs and beard plus a great body.View attachment 4021765View attachment 4021766
Awwww poor wee fella. Maybe cold stressed? Sure hope he is ok.

This 2 year old boy here successfully fought off a hawk today. Glad I didn't loose him. Hen it was going for is ok. Only lost a few feathers. He lost a few, too. So did the hawk.

He doesn't even have spurs. All claws and beak.

Wow that’s scary! Hope they still ok.

My little Cockerel Clyde had a hawk attack back in the Fall, he was only about 5 months old. He was also ok.

I'm already collecting eggs, and eating every last one of them until spring. I've got a tub of 11 in the house from the red pen, one hatching in the incubator and 2 more close to hatch from the little black gal in the back pen. Two mommas were sent back outside with their 3 tots when the weather warmed back up.

I got hand surgery on the 10th. No incubating for me until after. Got a new hutch to separate the broody into for the first batch for a couple weeks
