Hi I have been on eBay looking for hatching eggs when I came across eggs for silver mallards. How is this possible and if so, how can I get one by cross breeding.

This depends on what silver you mean; different countries use the name silver for different colors. There's even a 'new' color in mallards in the US being called silver that isn't genetically silver. Got a picture?
Now I’m curious if the silver mallards I got this spring (in the US are actually silver mallards).
Well, Silver in the US in genetic terms would be two copies of the blue gene, and usually Silver refers to this on a black base. Look up silver Calls and you'll see it.
Silver is used in other countries to mean what we in the US call Snowy.
And lastly, Silver in Mallards might mean a color that there has been some speculation over what the genetics are behind it. The same color in Calls is sometimes called Aztec Blue. It's fairly rare in the US. This:
