I ordered 15-16 chicks from Meyers (they may include more?) and will be receiving them the first week of april. I'm going to start building the coop and was wondering what size coop building to construct. I remember on here seeing how many sq. ft. each bird needs but cant remember. What size should I build?....the skies the limit. Thanks in advance for your input!

built one for double the amount of chicks, once you have them ,you want more, lol
good luck..
or buy a good size shed and turn it into a coop,we would do this, i we started out again.

General rule of thumb, is 2-4 sq ft per bird as far as floor space goes. Try to give them as much floor space as you can, as they can be stuck in the coop during the worst days of winter. If they are crowded, they can get kinda crabby and pick at each other.
